Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Letterman

With double the apologies to William Shakespeare this article is actually much ado about nothing except for the fact that it is a sterling example of Liberal hypocrisy and of the old double standard. Unless you've been having trouble switching your TV from analogue to digital in the last couple of days you are probably aware of CBS's The Late Night Show host David Letterman's classless joke concerning Governor Sarah Palin's 14-year-old daughter. In case you have not heard it this is what he said:

Letterman: "One awkward moment though during the game, maybe you heard about it, maybe you saw it on one of the highlight reels. One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez."

Now in the good old days this is where Todd Palin, the child's father, gets to walk up to Letterman anytime in the near future and punch him in his foul mouth. Nothing really violent just one man giving another man a friendly reminder that his family, especially his 14-year-old daughter, is off limits to such vile comments, in public or in private. Come to think of it I believe Sarah herself could handle Letterman almost as well as her husband. Anyway in doing so a valuable lesson is usually learned by the offender and then everyone goes on about their lives.

Normally if this had been a first time act of stupidity regarding this family Letterman may have gotten off with just a warning from the justly irate father. But for some reason Letterman has been constantly attacking Sarah, and particularly her children, since this lady was first announced to run as the Republican VP candidate. At one point on his show Letterman had made fun of the Palin children's names making me wonder if this man was actually a sixty-two year old adult or just a twelve year old snot nosed bully. Why Letterman has been so consistently venomous towards the Palin family, none of whom he has ever met, is anyone's guess. As he stated that he refuses to tell jokes about Obama, which is a complete reversal for every previous president since Letterman has hosted The Late Night Show, my guess would be that he has drunk the Kool-Aid. Of course it could just be that this terrible joke about impregnating a fourteen year old girl is just further proof of Letterman's declining talent and mental capacities.

But of course today in our increasingly liberal society Todd Palin, no matter how justified, cannot punch Letterman in the nose. Pity, because that would not only be news worthy, but it would also be something a bit more worth staying up late to watch than Stupid Pet Tricks.

Alas, today nothing this brutal, or practical, can be permitted as we are too 'civilized.' As a result 'comics', critics and all of these other idiotic personalities who have access to a public forum are permitted to say anything they want without consequence. So instead of just settling it man to man, or as so tantalizingly noted woman to man, this extremely moronic moment in television history is being roundly debated on all of the network and cable news outlets. And of course this debate has mainly followed that great divide between conservatives and liberals in their defense of either Letterman or the Palin family.

To be fair* a few Liberals, and I will add a very few, have stated that they believe Letterman's joke crossed the line of bad taste. But then, like their fellow Liberals, they immediately started to explain why Palin and her kids are fair game to criticism, ridicule and slander. The leading excuse has been that Palin herself has asked for such treatment because she put her family in the spotlight by running for public office. This is where the Liberal hypocrisy in this matter starts but nowhere does it end here. Before we continue there are two rules that must always be remembered when talking about Liberals.

1) Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
2) The end justifies the means.

In the recent presidential election campaign an upset Obama made it clear that families were off limits. This of course did not stop the Liberal attacks against Palin's family during the campaign or after it was over. It is after all an old ploy by Liberals to attack family members of conservative candidates while crying foul if anyone even mentions that a Liberal candidate has a family. You might remember how Liberals tried to embarrass VP Dick Cheney during his campaigns by discussing his lesbian daughter, these attacks came from the very group who states that they champion Gay rights. They do of course unless they can undermine a conservative by demeaning a young homosexual woman.

Liberals are also those among us who want our children, boys and girls and no matter how young, to never leave home without a government supplied pocket full of condoms. They want sex education taught to all grades starting with our kindergartners, but they do not want our kids to be taught that abstinence is a form of contraception. And of course if a young girl does get pregnant the Liberal answer is abortion on demand.

In their 'work' the Liberals running the film industry and 'the arts' in LA and NY constantly glorify premarital sex, drug use, alcohol abuse, violence or that idiotic misconception called "free love." Nothing is free, especially to the young and inexperienced. Many of these celebrities cohabitate in relationships without being legally married and have numerous children out of wedlock. Many others freely and openly have sexual twists with many partners. Yet these same self centered hypocrites blasted Palin's seventeen-year-old daughter for having a child out of wedlock with her long time boyfriend. It was as if teen pregnancy had never been heard of in this country that is engulfed in an epidemic of unwed teenage mothers.

It was widely insinuated by Liberals that Mom and Dad Palin must not have been very good parents since their daughter got pregnant. That Sarah and Todd must have done something wrong in raising their kids because their teenage, unwed daughter had gone out and did 'the nasty' with her boyfriend. With thousands of mothers and fathers in America dealing with teen pregnancies I wonder how they felt about this Liberal criticism of the Palin's as parents? How did these other parents feel about their pregnant child when the Liberals smeared Bristol Palin? Likewise I wonder how all of the young unwed mothers in America felt when another young woman in their situation was so vilified by the Liberal press and media? This slander and criticism came from the very people who say they want to help unwed mothers and their families in America. Well I guess Liberals want to help unless the pregnant teen's mom or dad is running as a conservative for public office, then as far as Liberals are concerned she's just a little… well you get the idea. Liberals could hardly contain their glee when Bristol and her fiancée broke off the wedding engagement. Liberals will tell you that they have empathy for unwed teenage mothers, but within their insincerity Bristol Palin is just a dirty joke.

It is a well known fact that Liberals just love it when they can parade a reformed anything out to talk to others about not doing this or that. They promote ex-cons to talk to people about living a life of crime and how bad it is to be in prison. They exhibit reformed alcoholics and ex-drug addicts to preach about the hardships and dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, even while campaigning to legalize illegal drugs. They sponsor ex-gang members to warn about the dangers of joining a gang. Liberals believe in the importance of these undesirable life experiences, which were learned the hard way by these former addicts, alcoholics and criminals. Liberals will tell you that they believe that everybody deserves another chance, for after all these people had just made a few mistakes. But when Bristol Palin went out to talk to other kids about abstinence, these same second chance granting, hard life experience loving Liberals crucified her!

"How dare she?"
They asked.

"It's a little late."
They joked.

But who better to tell teenagers the problems of being an unwed teenage mother than an unwed teenage mother? If Bristol had practiced abstinence then the Liberals, and the teenagers, would have asked how could she possibly talk about the benefits of abstinence versus the pleasures of sexual relationships when she is still a virgin. Bristol Palin can not win when it comes to Liberals. To these two faced charlatans her sin is that she is a Palin. Collectively their entire conduct towards this young woman is utterly revolting.

That brings us back to the duplicity of David Letterman. The day after he made this terrible joke Letterman explained that it had been intended for eighteen-year-old Bristol Palin, who was not at the ballgame, and not for her fourteen-year-old sister who was at the ballgame. Regardless of which young lady it was meant to insult and humiliate the comment was still uncalled for and vulgar. He is not man enough to apologize nor intelligent enough to know that he is wrong. These disagreeable qualities are of course essential to any good Liberal.

Yet to take this a step further if anyone on God's green Earth should keep his yap shut when it comes to having children out of wedlock it is none other than Mr. David Letterman. I have not seen or heard what I am about to tell you mentioned by any of the TV pundits who are arguing this matter and I have to wonder why? It sure isn't a secret by any means.

I used to watch his show occasionally and I remember a few years ago in 2003 when he announced that he and his unnamed 'friend' were going to have a baby. His audience welcomed this good news with an enthusiastic round of applause, as well they should have. But you see David Letterman and his live-in friend were not married at the time and in fact did not marry until just recently this year. So what we have is an adult male who at the time of his son's birth was around fifty-six years old having premarital sex with his cohabitating adult girlfriend who got pregnant out of wedlock. Now perhaps Letterman is old school and believes in that old double standard concerning male and female sexual behavior. You know, that old standard where it was once held that if a man has numerous sexual encounters then he is admired as a stud, but if a woman does the same she is chastised as a harlot.

However it is far more likely that since Letterman is a Liberal he feels absolutely justified embarrassing, ridiculing, and judging a seventeen-year-old girl who simply did exactly what Letterman and his 'friend' did. Now for any of the readers of this article who might be Liberals, that is the definition of hypocrisy.

God Bless America

Semper Fi,
Mike

(* To save time and confusion for any Liberals who may have read this piece I have included the definition of the word FAIR as it is used in the above sentence:

Fair: adjective, -er, -est, adverb, -er, -est, noun, verb -adjective

1. Free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice: a fair decision; a fair judge.)

Even The Swede thinks Letterman went too far~ and that a more appropriate apology is due~ Unfortunately taste and class are often victims of 'the joke'~ whatever~

Something about a good looking, political leader~ who is also a woman~ scares the Bejezuz out of the Liberals~ and they seem to take every opportunity to put her in 'her place'.

Nice job of putting them in 'their place'.

David Letterman is an a**hole. He has been on Palin's case since she was selected to run as Vice President. He has constantly talked bad about her and her family and he needs to be fired. Yep, fired.
I will not watch his show again and his competition is an idiot too. Typical Biased News.......that's all it is and I am getting tired of News or TV Speakers that continually bash Palin and the Republican Party and say nothing bad about the Democrats or Obama when he or they screw up.
It's a joke. What has America become. The only national news that tells it like it is is FOX. The other stations are to caught up in idolizing Obama and his Administration, they can do no wrong and they only cover items that aren't negative too.
Why not just report the news and let America decide what we want to think, NO, they want to tell you how to vote and how to help them with their beliefs.
Obama, Letterman, Oprah, most of all national news TV stations, etc., they're all idiots leading us down a path of destruction with their ideas on how we should live.
PS: Stand by for the next Obama mistake as there will be many to follow but our national news media won't report it. Just start watching Foxnews.

I have not watched Letterman in quite a few years ( pre 9/11 ). I find him a boore and really more insulting than funny. To me he is a bitter old man that should be fired from the networks, not because of censoring but because of a tasteless attempt at humor. The crack about the Palin's daughter was "Scripted" and "Letterman" knew in advance of what he was going to say. If not, he should retire go into therapy and or get sacked. The joke ( so called ) did cross the line between comedy / satire, and good taste.

There's a reason why hell will freeze over before we hear an apology from Letterman or CBS:

Only one day prior to his crude attack on the Palin girls, CBS signed Letterman to host through August 2012 - and this would have been the news had the uproar controversy not erupted.

Letterman feels secure in the knowledge that CBS WON'T fire him the same week they renewed his contract. And CBS doesn't want the public to be further angered by the conrtract renewal - so the news has been 'buried'.

I remember two short years ago when someone in the media commented the Clinton's were "pimping out" their adult daughter Chelsie for political purposes. The left wing went nuts and demanded the offenders termination. Now ask yourself which comment is more vile, hate filled, and tasteless. This is all you will ever need to illustrate the blatant double standard of the left.

Letterman insults the Palin's because they are good looking and he is ugly. Not only in looks, but in spirit. It's the old jealousy thing. If you can't have what the other person possesses, insult them.

I'm with you brother, when I heard him say these things I turned him off. I used to switch back and forth between him and Jay Leno to hear their mono logs now I just watch Jay. He's a filthy Liberal who thinks it's O.K. to sexually abuse his employees but wants to criticize others for doing far less and even stoop to the level of telling a lie about someone Else's teenage daughter. If it were my daughter I certainly would punch the Son of a Bitch in the mouth and maybe worse.
