Only In Americo – The Activist

It was about a woman who has taken sanctuary in a church in order not to be deported, a second time. Elvira Arellano was working as a cleaning woman at O'Hare when in 2002 Homeland Security found that she was using a false social security number and that she had already been sent back to Mexico once, only to again illegally return. She has a son who was born in the United States, making him a legal citizen of our country, and therefore she states that she does not want to go back to Mexico because she must stay here to take care of him. He does have some medical problems.

Now in steps U.S. Sen. Durbin, along with some unnamed ‘others’, who get her not just one, but three stays, of deportation since 2003. As the article explains that allowed her to come out in the open about her illegal immigration status. In so being, she does what any hard working mother who is only trying to better her life and take care of her son would do; she becomes an activist for families who are facing separation due to their illegal entry into our country. Now isn’t that just what this country needed, another bleeping activist.

Obviously not being smart enough to leave well enough alone, or to at least try to maintain a low profile, she has now once again found herself facing deportation. Only this time, with her son’s health improving, and apparently she is out of favor not only with the Senator but also with those unnamed others, it looks like it’s finally adios. Well, at least until she comes back illegally again. But instead of reporting to the Department of Homeland Security as ordered, she’s off to church, and the media buzz.

Now I will admit that a few short years ago this woman and her son would have found a little more sympathy from yours truly. But hey, this is all just to familiar folks. This one little article about this one woman and her son pretty much sums up our illegal immigration problems.

First: She broke the laws of our nation by coming here illegally, twice. Even when we catch them and send them back to Mexico the Mexican government and our present system does not do enough to detain them or to stop them from breaking our laws repeatedly. Personally I think we should drop this illegal immigrant label and simply call them what they are, criminals. Maybe then it will hit our politicians a little harder when they decide to coddle them.

Second: O’Hare International Airport employed her even though she had false documents. Checking for proper, legal identification is not that hard, what it is though is costly. Businesses do not want to pay the extra costs. Unfortunately the American taxpayers end up paying for all this corporate thriftiness in the long run.

Third: She was using a false social security number. By doing so she was breaking more of our laws while not paying into our social security and tax systems. But that didn’t stop her and her son from reaping the benefits provided by our government’s programs that are paid for by our taxes. You, as a legal citizen of the United States, try using a false SS number at your job and see how hard the IRS and the SSA comes down on you. You’ll wish you could get away to Mexico.

Fourth: Even though she is an illegal immigrant, since her son was born here he is entitled to government programs and health care assistance. Also she, as an illegal immigrant will not be turned away if she needs medical care. But unlike most legal citizens of our country she will have no insurance, no co-pay, or other expenses. The American taxpayers are the ones who pay for the medical and welfare programs that are given to illegal immigrants. This free care to illegals is such a hit on our medical centers and hospitals that in the last fiscal year, in San Diego County alone, nine hospitals and, or medical care clinics, had to shut their doors because of non-payment from treating illegal immigrants. They simply went bankrupt. That’s nine facilities that were meant to take care of our citizens’ medical needs that are no longer there. Now you didn’t really think that she was paying all her son’s medical bills by working as a cleaning woman at O’Hare did you? Mexican illegals send most of their money back to Mexico, where it stays and American tax dollars pay to keep them healthy.

Fifth: She becomes an activist. You know I would feel a whole lot better about this criminal immigration if the people coming here now wanted to assimilate into our society. But that just doesn’t seem to be the case. Criminal immigrants demand that their language is taught in our schools and spoken in our places of business and government. They remain loyal to Mexico and talk about taking over the U.S. as part of Mexico. When immigration reforms are suggested or debated in our houses of government they march in our streets demanding that they have the same equal status of our citizens while they raise the Mexican flag above ours. While remaining to be citizens of Mexico, yet to live in America, they demand to be given the same rights and freedoms and to be protected by our laws the same as American citizens without becoming Nationalized U.S. Citizens. Well, the way I see it, Americans live in America, and every body else is just visiting, and sooner than later is the time to go home. But then, like so many other illegals who really should be in jail or deported back to Mexico because of their criminal entry into our country, along comes Elvira Arellano breaking our laws one after another only to walk into a church, hold a press conference, and take the moral high ground as if it was really all the rest of us who had committed the crimes. All the while she is not even smart enough to realize that she had caught a break from the good Senator, and those mysterious ‘others’ when she was granted her stays. Instead she becomes an activist. Acting like she has seen the light and as if she can climb some high hill there in that Chicago suburb that allows her to see her countrymen, way down in Mexico. As she stands high and proud on this mystic hilltop she waves her arm in a gesture for all her fellow illegals and shouts, “Follow me! I have done it, and so can you. Come one, come all, I will tell you how to beat the system. I am the light.” I wonder if she has figured out yet that her activism was the reason everyone has deserted her?

Sixth: Do-gooders such as the Senator and those un-name others who got these three stays on her deportations are only helping this country to go bankrupt. Now think about this: all of these agencies; Homeland Security, The Department of Immigration, the Federal, State and local courts, our police agencies who have had to deal with her, and no doubt a government appointed attorney here and there, along with the Senator’s office and his staff, are not private enterprises. They are all paid for and operated on American taxpayers’ money. This woman has been deported once and returned. Found again working at O’Hare by Homeland Security four years ago, and has been involved with all of the above named agencies and the Senator’s office, thus tying up all of these people who work for these agencies for God only knows how many hours and who do you guess is paying for this? You, that’s who! The Tribune article does not say when she was first caught and deported but it does say that this round of her illegalities started four long years ago. That means that for more than four years Americans have been paying people with their hard earned tax dollars to deal with this one illegal immigrant! No wonder our roads still need repair, our schools are cutting programs, thus leaving OUR children behind, our seniors’ benefits are being cut, and our government agencies are being overwhelmed! All this and much more with no improvement in sight for these and many other programs which are in place to help American citizens, while our taxes continue to skyrocket as every government program we have falls well below expectations.

Not to mention that all the time our Homeland Security is spending dealing with the likes of the Elvira Arellanos in our country, they are not able to do what they are intended to do, seek out the terrorists who mean us harm.

Nobody yet knows how long this illegal immigrant will hold out in this church before she gives up or somebody goes in to get her. But we do know that it is going to be a big media headline hurrah for as long as it lasts and that everyone involved on the government level is being paid for by you and me to deal with her while it lasts. All this hard earned money down the drain because a Mexican woman wanted to break our laws and get away with it. Do any of you think it would be too conservative a guess that by the time this woman is deported, or is allowed to stay, that the American taxpayers will have paid over one million dollars to put an end to this fiasco? If that is the price, I think we will be lucky.

In summation: It is all about the money folks, but then most everything always is.

The criminal immigrants want to make more money so they sneak across our border.

The Mexican government wants our money to boost their economy so they not only encourage their citizens to break our laws they help them do it!

Our corporations and businesses want to make more profits so they hire criminal immigrants at lower wages.

Our government, who caters to big business, wants to keep the money flowing so why rock the boat.

While many individual politicians just want to keep their jobs, i.e., the money coming in. They are betting on either amnesty or citizenship for these illegal immigrants and look at them as potential future voters who will vote in blocks for those who have supported them, or at least did them no harm. After all, our politicians know that many of us Americans don’t even vote anyway.

In the meantime all of you hard working American taxpayers who play by the rules, pay your Social Security, Federal Income and State taxes will continue to foot the bill.

          Meanwhile our government and corporations continue to feed us, the American public, that old tired lie about how there are some jobs that Americans will not do. Along with the equally false tale of how we could not afford a head of lettuce if we picked it ourselves. On this website you can look up your individual states to see what your State’s costs are this year, along with your State’s projected costs in the near future for Illegal and ‘Guest’ Workers in your State. As an example here is my present home State of Arizona:

Now you see that Current cost figure of 1,300? That’s in millions so the real figure is:

 One Billion, Three Hundred Million Dollars and apparently No/Cents.

You as the taxpayer will be required to sign the check here X________.

That’s a lot of jack, Jack. It is so much so that a simple, blue-collar, red neck, old man like myself has a little trouble comprehending a figure like this. Don’t you? Most of us will never even see a measly million dollars all at once. That is unless we just happen to be watching Texas Hold ‘Em Poker when that last guy wins it all and they bring out a million bucks and dump it on the table.

So in order to try to comprehend just how much money illegal immigration is costing each and every one of us. And to put an end to that old lie about how much everything would cost us Americans if not for the cheap labor supplied by illegals I have a suggestion. Remembering what your State and Federal governments will spend for, among other programs, medical care, welfare, and social security benefits paid out to those illegals that never put a dime in, do this. Every time you walk out of a McDonald’s type fast food restaurant where you ordered a Big Mac and fries but left with a bag full of McNuggets because the person behind the counter didn’t speak English add twenty bucks to your total bill. Every time you go to a nursery and end up spending two hundred clams, but only after asking to see their rose bushes you were escorted to the back of the lot to be shown rows and rows of palm trees because you don’t to speak Spanish, add two thousand big ones. Because my fellow Americans, in the long run it is costing you that much. And that’s being conservative.
